Medical Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedure in the world, originating in China over 2,000 years ago. According to traditional Chinese Medicine, more than 2,000 points on the human body connect energy pathways. These pathways conduct energy between the body surface and the internal organs. This energy affects spiritual, emotional, mental and physical balance. Acupuncture is used to keep the normal flow of energy unblocked and restore health to the body and mind.
Medical acupuncture can help you to:
- Enjoy health and well-being
- Prevent illness
- Address various medical conditions
- Resolve physical problems related to tension, stress and emotional conditions
- Decrease the use of pharmaceuticals and aggressive procedures
- Heal using both Western and Eastern Medicine
What can you expect?
Occasionally, the original symptoms worsen for a few days or a general change in appetite, sleep, bowel or emotional state may occur. This is an indication that the acupuncture is working. With the first few treatments, there may be a brief experience of deep relaxation, mild euphoria or disorientation.
Acupuncture needles are very thin, solid and made from stainless steel. Most patients feel little or no pain as the needle is inserted. Only disposable needles are used in this clinic.
How many sessions will you need?
The number of treatments varies with the individual and depends on the problem. For acute conditions, usually only a few treatments are needed. For complex or long-standing conditions, one or two treatments every one to two weeks may be recommended initially. For health maintenance, four sessions a year may be all that is necessary. Most treatments take between 20 and 60 minutes.
There are no medical conditions that prevent you from getting acupuncture.
